Friday Music Flow 7/21

1. “Rio,” Ciscero ft. Jay Prince and FoggieRaw

Ciscero has been perfecting his craft since we were first introduced to him on Goldlink’s “Fall In Love.” He shows his skills in “Rio,” linking up with fellow DMV rapper FoggieRaw and one of my favorite London MCs, Jay Prince, over collab-production by J.Robb and Misterneek.

2. GSPL, Phoelix

Phoelix is no newcomer, with production credits for Chi-Town artists like Noname Gypsy and Saba — but in his new EP, GSPL, he’s found his voice. The project’s standout track, “Red Beans And Rice,” was written when the Chicago producer was stuck on a church mission trip a year ago in the Virgin Islands. “I was infuriated and with no other outlet I made ‘Red Beans & Rice’ in the Virgin Islands,” he said. “[July 17] was the start of this project and to drop it on this date just makes it a complete year of my life that I can release.” Listen to this amazing 7 track project from start to finish.

3. “F*ck The Summer Up,” and “Type Different,” King Combs

Diddy’s son King Combs is making his own waves in Miami — and these two new releases are the Bad Boy summer jams we needed. While “F*ck the Summer Up” has an inescapable party vibe, “Type Different” caters to the trap scene. Get into these two visuals ASAP.

4. Safe Travels, Gwen Bunn

After finding success on ScHoolboy Q’s “Collard Greens” in 2013, producer-songwriter-singer Gwen Bunn had label offers flooding in — and once she landed a production deal, she got to work with the likes of Childish Gambino and Sean Paul. In Safe Travels, we get to finally experience Bunn’s emotions and airy flowing vocals through an eight track solo project. Learn about Bunn in her VICE documentary and take a listen to the leading single, “Think Twice.”

You can purchase Safe Travels on Bandcamp.

5. “Celebration”, White Gold

As a mostly behind-the-scenes producer and songwriter, Bronx native White Gold is ready to step into the spotlight and show us what she’s got. “Celebration” is a bold debut, with production and empowering lyrics that are contagious. Listen below, and learn more about White Gold on Pigeons and Planes.
